The Barnard Fire Department is in the process of removing over 50 trees at Barnard Park this month due to safety concerns.

Recently during one of the high wind events we experienced a large number of trees breaking and falling down along the Maiden Lane side of the property causing damage to wires and other trees.

In the interest of safety we have contracted with a private tree removal company to remove all of the dead and dying trees on the property.

The vast majority of these trees being removed are along the Maiden Lane side of the property are Ash Trees and have been infested with the Emerald Ash Bore Beetle (https://dec.ny.gov/nature/animals-fish-plants/emerald-ash-borer-eab).

Once all of the tree and stumps have been removed we will be filling in this area with top soil and seeding the area to restore the grass.

If you have any questions or concerns on this project please email us at info@barnardfire.org.
