The Barnard Fire Department has
been at a turning point in our history
with talks of cancelling the
Carnival due to low community turnout,
and the high expense cost and low
return on our investment. After careful
consideration, listening to our residents
and faithful customers it has been decided
that the Barnard Carnival will be
a reality for 2009. (June 24, 25, 26 and
27 – Parade on Thursday June 25th).
The Carnival will have a new look
in 2009 with a new ride vendor, Playland
Amusements. Owners Joe and
Roberta Sofo are upstate New York
residents from the Auburn area. They
bring over 40 years of experience and
fun to events in upstate and central
New York communities. Their values
run deep and coincide with our core
values of family, community commitment
and loyalty.
Tradition is part of the Barnard heritage
and it played as one of our key
reasons for making the decision of continuing
with the Carnival. The other is
giving back to the community that has
supported us so well for over 80 years.
We want to thank everyone that enjoys
the Barnard Carnival year in and out.
To the volunteers that come each year
to cook hot dogs or serve beer, thank
you! Without the community commitment,
the volunteer firefighters, their
families and their friends, we could not
continue with this fine tradition.
The Barnard Fire Department, Carnival
Committee, Parade Committee
and its membership wants to thank you
for your patronage and loyal support.
Put it on your calendar, it is official,
June 24, 25, 26 and 27 are the dates.
The Parade will be on Thursday June
25th at 7pm running down Dewey Avenue
to Pomona Drive into the Carnival
grounds.
We look forward to seeing all our friends in June! |
